Visual Storytelling in 2026

Not every artist looks for attention. But visibility can change the game. When I meet families to photograph their Weddings, Newborn Sessions, Child milestone pictures and Senior Portraits, it’s one of the big highlights of my day. You may not know that I am one who prefers a book, quiet peaceful/tranquil locations to gather my thoughts and dream. I am a quiet Artist.

So what do you do when everything around you screams you have to be loud and in Everyone’s faces to be seen and hired to capture your art?

Photographers in 2026 are feeling the pressure to be influencers, be pros at social media and marketing. The constant push to be in front of the camera for branding photos to give a style and look that might draw others in for you to Photograph. When most of us are definitely more comfortable behind the camera creating and storytelling. I want to create and capture beautiful images of families and children that express who they are in that time and not have some trend with props or some look that everyone else is using define my images.

So I avoided it and stayed true to myself.

I began taking pictures for fun with a raw talent when I was very young. I used the disposable kodak cameras you could send off to develop through our local big box store. I loved getting the stack of prints and little strips of film back. I collected National Geographic magazines and imagined/dreamed one day I would travel all over and find my images printed in one of their issues. This was back in 1996. Yes, I am a 90’s kid. When I was in my early 20s I was taking my Olympus Camera and taking selfies of myself before selfies were even a thing. I still love those images of myself. Taking self portraits to learn lighting is fun.

I have decided to keep posting what I love and those who love it will find me.

I wanted to start posting some of these thoughts here in my blog in case other Photographers feel the same way I do. Also for those who might just want to get to know me a little more because you enjoy what I capture with my camera.
